Happy new month! Amazing how the year that we ushered in just the other day is going by. Seconds have turned into minutes, minutes into hours, hours into days, days into months and voila! It is April. This year’s April’s fools’ day has fallen on a Sunday. It is also a Palm Sunday, the Sunday before Easter.
The interesting thing about Palm Sunday is that it is a day Jesus went to Jerusalem. It has been termed as the triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Jesus in His royalty humbled Himself enough to ride in a donkey. Isn’t it astounding that the son of man should choose such a lowly means to accomplish His purpose?
The preaching in my local church today was about us having a relationship with God. In the Bible, God used ordinary people who had enough excuses. Moses a stammered, David was a murderer and adultery. Paul, formerly Soul persecuted Christians, Zaccheus was a short Tax collector … the list is endless.
Christ brushes aside our convenient excuses. He says, “I want you” and that is enough. Think of it, the creator of the universe needs us and desires to fit us into His eternal design. You May be thinking you are the weakest, littlest man on earth. God will work through you and you will not be proud of it. You will see that He is only using you because of your insignificance.
You may be small in your own eyes but God has need of you! Yours is a mission only you can fulfill, whether to build, till or teach. Your goal may still be hidden from your view but somewhere, God has urgent need of you.
God is looking for ordinary people for extraordinary work.
We should have a relationship with God such that even when we drift away from Him like the prodigal son did, we can always come back to Him and He will recognize us as his sons and daughte rs. The prodigal son’s father recognized his son from afar simply because they had a relationship as father and son.
Question is, do you have a relationship with God, your heavenly father? Can you always go to Him and He goes like “that is my daughter/son”.
Choose to have a relationship today with your maker, will you? If you have one already, ensure that you make it grow stronger!!!
Have a happy Palm Sunday as well as new month. Let no one fool you today and always.
