There is a local Radio station in my country, Kenya, which goes by the name Radio 316.
It is a Christian radio station. The name comes from John 3:16 which speaks of the love God had for us till He sent His only son Jesus Christ to die for our sins.
The station’s management annually arranges for a trip to the holy land. So nice of them isn’t it?
The other time they organized such. A close friend of mine was so excited she wanted to be part of the trip. She imagined herself walking the places where Jesus walked and the thoughts made her have sleepless nights. I asked her why she was so excited she ended up telling me she is seeing herself up mount Sinai where she can go and bring me back the Ten Commandments.
What? I was shocked beyond words at her explanation. She wanted just to go and bring me the Ten Commandments? She was paying so much for the air tickets, accommod
ation and food. The good thing is by the time she was telling me the Sinai fantasy, she had not yet paid.
I gave her my piece of mind. Why spent so much just to go for the Ten Commandments? Why not just stay home and keep them? She already knew them off head. She did not have to go and bring them because they can be found in the Bible. Who even told her they were still on that mountain anyway?
To cut the long story short, she did not go for the holy land tour that year.
As much as we read the Bible, God wants us to obey it. Hearing the word of God must go hand in hand with doing (James 1:22).
Today, ensure that you not only read the word but be very careful to obey it also.
The spirit of God enables us to obey the word of God.
