Tears

I think one of the wonderful creations of God is tears. I sat down one day and tried to figure out how life would be without tears. I could not picture it out so I ended up laughing and brushing the thought of a life without tears. We shed them when we first come into this world. A mother who is in labor knows the baby is already in the outside world the moment she hears her baby cry. Maybe the reason we shed tears the moment we are born is because there is a lot of difficulties waiting for us in this earth. It is a harsh cruel world we live in.
We not only shed tears when we are sad but most of the time joy overwhelms us to an extent that we do cry. When we receive news too hard to just rejoice, tears accompany the joy.
Tears flow freely when we receive sad news like the death of a loved one. The bitterness we feel when they leave us move us to cry. This is very normal. It takes me back to the shortest verse in the Bible, John 11:35, “Jesus wept”. His friend Lazarus had died. I keep asking myself why He did that yet He knew the reality of heaven, He came from there anyway so He knew Lazarus was going to a better place. He was the source of all hope of a future day of resurrection, yet, HE CRIED!
He loved the friends Mary, Martha and Lazarus so much that “He groaned in the spirit and was troubled” (John 11:33). Many are the times in this life we go through so much that the only thing we can do is CRY, yes shed tears.
Jesus did not promise us a smooth life here on earth. On the contrary, He went through what every other human being goes through. He was despised, rejected, hated and He lost someone He loved dearly. This encourages us in that Jesus knows exactly what we are going through, no matter how ugly or painful it is, He sure knows. He is faithful enough to comfort us and wipe the tears off our faces.
Whatever you are going through today that is making you shed tears, remember JESUS WEPT. He is a God who is deeply touched by our anguish. When a painful situation invades your life, remember the Bible’s shortest verse. Jesus shed tears too.
If you doubt that Jesus cares ,remember His tears.
